About Mr. Amicucci

Joe Amicucci MS LAT ATC CSCS
Athletic Trainer

As a certified athletic trainer in the secondary school setting, I provide injury preventative services, emergency care, injury evaluation and rehabilitation for injured student-athletes. In other words, I am a healthcare professional trained to use evidence-based medicine to determine if an SRHS athlete is prepared to compete. I also serve as an educational resource for the Blue Devil community on topics such as strength training, aerobic/anaerobic conditioning, and sports nutrition. My mission is to preserve the health and safety of each student-athlete using the best practices and knowledge in order to contribute to their successes on and off the field.

Athletic Training Protocols
-
Student-athletes should fill out an evaluation form prior to initial evaluation.

-
Student-athletes may contact the athletic trainer via email/team application for evaluation/treatment time. Walk-ins are not guaranteed.

-
Evaluations are available by appointment. If an evaluation is to be done after school, during weekends/holidays/school closure it needs to be approved by the athletic trainer ahead of time via email or preferred communication method.

-
Treatment/Rehab times are available by appointment. Treatments to be done during weekends/holidays/school closure need prior approval from the athletic trainer via email or preferred communication method.

-
Student-athletes must arrive prepared for evaluation/treatment. Please have appropriate clothing (shirt, shorts, socks, sneakers).

-
If you are to be taped, braced, padded you will need to receive prior approval from the athletic trainer.

-
Student-athletes will NOT be taped on a regular basis. Those not wearing a recommended brace will not be taped; the brace should be considered an integral part of the individual's protective equipment.

-
If the student-athlete has not been evaluated and/or does not receive prescribed treatment/rehab, they may incur an unexcused absence from practice/game.

-
Care will be prioritized based on severity, time of activity, schedule, etc.

-
Student-athletes are responsible for bringing their OWN water bottle. Extra water will be provided via water coolers.

-
Team specific med-kits will be provided and should be present at the practice/game site.
